Seiko Selection SSDE008 Mechanical Women's Watch

The Seiko SSDE008 is an exquisite Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) automatic mechanical dress timepiece from Seiko’s elegant Seiko Selection line for women. Known among watch enthusiasts and discerning collectors by its collection series nicknames—the "Automatic" or "Mechanical Open Heart"—this 34.2mm watch pairs a solid two-tone stainless steel case with pink gold PVD accents, a radiant sunray dial, an open-heart aperture at 9 o'clock revealing the ticking balance wheel, a high-precision Japanese automatic movement, a durable Hardlex crystal, an exhibition see-through caseback, and an integrated two-tone stainless steel construction. Designed for modern women who appreciate classical mechanical horology, warm rose-gold tones, and refined wrist presence, it transitions effortlessly from daily business wear to formal evening occasions. The defining visual highlight of this SSDE008 reference is its shimmering champagne dial framed by a polished pink gold PVD-plated bezel. Set beneath a clear Hardlex crystal, the dial features a captivating circular open-heart cut-out at 9 o'clock showcasing the mechanical movement's escapement, set alongside clear Roman numeral and crystal index hour markers, elegant pink gold-tone hands with LumiBrite, and an outer minute track. The harmonic contrast between the warm sunray champagne dial, sparkling crystal markers, rose gold highlights, and lustrous stainless steel delivers a sophisticated, jewelry-like aesthetic on the wrist. Beneath its artistic exterior, the watch is driven by Seiko's reliable in-house Caliber 4R38 automatic mechanical movement with hand-winding and second-hand hacking capabilities. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) across 24 jewels, this automatic engine provides a 41-hour power reserve, allowing the timepiece to maintain continuous, smooth sweep-seconds precision without requiring battery changes. The housing is crafted from solid stainless steel, featuring a polished gold PVD-plated bezel and matching accent links on the bracelet for a luxurious two-tone look. Measuring 34.2mm in case width by 41.0mm in case length with a case profile thickness of 10.8mm and a total weight of approximately 88.0 grams, it provides a substantial yet comfortable wrist presence. The reverse side features an exhibition see-through screw-down caseback displaying the internal mechanical movement in operation. Built for daily wear and aquatic resistance, the case achieves a certified 100-meter (10 bar / 330 ft) water resistance rating suitable for daily rain, hand washing, and swimming. The timepiece comes completed on an integrated two-tone stainless steel link construction, secured by a three-fold deployment clasp with a push-button safety release mechanism.
